Mission Codename Pitch Perfect
One of the most coveted producers in Sonoma County.” - Sonoma Magazine
The thirst for La Pitchoune is REAL and grows larger every offer. As more people discover this boutique producer, they realize how much it overdelivers. Today’s 92 point single vineyard Chardonnay is no exception - especially at 50% OFF.
The Nielsen’s aim to make wine in a Burgundian fashion. Working with small farmers, producing just a few barrels at a time, and striving for the highest quality. The name “La Pitchoune” or “little one” even comes from a small vineyard in Burgundy. This bottling uses fruit from the highly coveted Pratt Vineyard just north of Sebastapol. The location is surrounded by other famed vineyards used by Kistler, Dehlinger, and the Duttons. Notable producers who source from here include Copain, Cattleya, Spring Mountain, and Crescere.
Winemaker Andrew Berge led the way for years, until his untimely passing in 2021. But wines like this will carry on his legacy for many years, decades to come. With six years age, this has TONS of life left.
Glimmering gold in the glass, it’s balanced with fruit, acid, and ripeness all in perfect high-pitched harmony. It was barrel fermented in 100% French Oak, but only 28% new. So, it has a terrific polished mouthfeel and fullness but isn’t dripping with butter. Definitely an edgy, steely, precision focused style. There’s golden apple, pineapple, toasty brioche, yellow pear, and white nectarines all layered on top of captivating floral blossom notes. A straight up gorgeous wine to have around this summer.
Now that summer is officially here (it was 100+ here yesterday) we are drinking all kinds of fresh, scintillating whites, exactly like this. But very little was made - just 170 cases. And we have a fraction of that to share. Get some before it’s too late!
92 Points - Wine Advocate
“The nose of the 2016 Chardonnay Pratt Vineyard opens with honeysuckle and poached pear with honey toast, roasted almonds, ripe tree fruit and tropical hints. The palate is medium-bodied and creamy with savory flavors in the mouth, finishing broad with nutty nuance. 75 cases were made.”
