We wonât crowd the site up with our own tasting notes that have scattered profanity or religious overtones that may be offensive for some readers, therefore better left to the ratings and reviews.
But even if youâre new to Burgundy, stop what youâre doing and ride that checkout button to the âorder completedâ page. It will pay off like a hacked slot machine, 777s guaranteed all day.
Burgundy expert Jamie Goode best profiles this precious Domaine - owned by Champagne Bollinger - and its hotshot winemaker: âChanson was founded in 1750, and still occupies their original home, although they added a new gravity-fed winery in Savigny-lĂšs-Beaune in 2010. They are a Bourgogne negociant doing things the right way. They were purchased by Bollinger in 1999. I visited with celebrated winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron. âI donât like the term negociant,â he says because his view is that they behave like a Domaine⊠âMy job is to respect the originality of each territory,â says Confuron⊠I was impressed by these wines.â
For starters, CHABLIS GRAND CRU. There are just about a half dozen single bottle listings of ANY vintage of this out there starting at $100+ a pop. Les Preuses to be âprĂ©ciseâ sandwiched between Grand Crus VaudĂ©sir & Bougros. Sorry, geeking out hard. But does it get better? Only by a couple of dozen other Chablis Grand Crus according to Wine Enthusiast and most are from Les Clos. Some 2018s are about $1,500 a bottle as the Raveneau version, with exactly ZERO percent savings.
But today, on Wine Spies? Take 40% OFF this 95-pointer knockout that goes down from the original $120 retail to a virtually guilt-free $72. Buy with reckless abandon if you need to fill your Burgundy gap.
While the 7 cases we got last, that is. Why are you still here?
95 Points â Wine Enthusiast
âA sense of reduction on this wineâs nose expresses itself as just extinguished candlesmoke. Beyond that, waxiness suggests phenolic richness. The rich palate is cloudlike in its generosity. It offers yeast, chalk, lemon, roundness and more of that phenolic, pleasantly bitter edge. The finish is long and lasting. Drink by 2035.â
