Mission Codename Windmills of your mind
Store Takeover - Import Edition starts at 8am PST. Head to the Store to find 22 more all-new wines for today’s exclusive event.
Remember your first unlimited ride wristband? Or your first all-you-can-eat luxury buffet?
From a vinous standpoint, for lovers of the finest wines of the world, today qualifies for that same sweet feeling of euphoria.
If you have disposable income to spend on wine, today is the day to dispose of a chunk. Cause just like that all you can ride or all you can eat; these are LIMITED both in quantity and time.
Especially since we just can’t hold onto the greatest imports America sees for long when at the LOWEST prices possible, EVERYBODY wants them. If you’re an Operative who’s been with us a while, you know, it’s on days like these we get the NEWEST Operatives, who swarm in when the word gets out just a few hours within your reading this. Early bird gets the wine!
And with the embarrassment of riches drowning the Store here from France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and Argentina, it was very, very difficult to choose the main feature today.
We went with the one we have the most of (still under 40 cases that is) that offered the best bang for the buck…
“Le Moulin is a somewhat under the radar Pomerol that I have always found to have a kinship to Le Pin, if only because of its exuberant exoticism.” – Robert Parker
Pomerol, 2009, and $72 is an UNHEARD-OF trifecta. Utterly exotic, ultra-rare, and shockingly affordable. With press to back.
In fact, Robert Parker, the man who put Pomerol on the modern map has been raving about this best kept Right Bank secret for quite some time now… “It’s a shame there is not more of this delicious Pomerol (the vineyard is a mere 5.9 acres). Proprietor Michel Querre (also a Bordeaux judge) is doing everything right at Le Moulin.” he wrote, elsewhere saying “This is Pomerol at its most extravagant… Readers should take note of this tiny estate as they are attempting to produce an exotically-styled wine in the image of the famed Le Pin.”*
A bottle of said Le Pin, and they will sell you just a bottle of the nearly impossible to find 2009, can be had for somewhere in the $5,000-$10,000 range. Need more be said?
How can you resist? Don’t. We couldn’t either, which partly explains why it (and many others in the Store today) will be getting more and more limited as the day progresses. Life is too short, drink up!
92 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“A classic wine from this estate, whose wines can be somewhat exotic in a rather le Pin-like style, the 2009 is opaque ruby/purple, with notes of blackberry and black cherry fruit, an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, and loads of generosity and glycerin. There are also hints of herbs and Asian spices in this fleshy wine, which is meant for consumption over the next 10-15 years. Drink 2012-2027.”
