This is one of those insider-only, local hook-up type deals. A relatively unknown, small project making some extraordinary wines from great vineyards. And we just happened to bargain for a few cases to share on this quiet Sunday.

Oh, the winemaker! None other than Chris Corley of Monticello/Corley Family, a Napa institution since 1970, as well as of Operative favorite Maroon Wines! His strengths lie in combining the classicism of bygone times of the Valley with the modernity that makes Cabernets from this unique appellation what they are today, intense fruit delivered straight to all your senses. We have a prime example of that in our glasses, from a singular Corley-owned site.

This comes from a few select blocks in Knollwood Vineyard, located in Oak Knoll AVA in southern Napa. It’s a proprietary blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cab Franc and Merlot joining for the ride. Just about the textbook definition of a classy Napa Cab - endowed with blackberry, black cherry, toasty cedar, candied violets, licorice, and spice. Straight-up sexy stuff, and that price? YOWZA!
