Mission Codename A new life
“In only a few years, DAOU has established itself as not only one of the most significant producers in Paso Robles, but a winery whose astonishing breadth of successes has justifiably earned it a place among the very best in the state.” – Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine
OH BABY. We are PINGING with excitement today.
DAOU is back in the house! 93 points under $30 and… wait for it… the best price around! Surprise, surprise. If “Prisoneresque” reds excite you, this is one to stash in your wheelhouse FOR SURE.
Sidenote: Were you able to get enough Patrimony? Thought all were gone, but the latest inventory count revealed a few more, find them here while they last!
Where were we? This powerful blend delivers a lush, belly-warming, and truly decadent experience. At a recent tasting there was no discussion on who’s taking the bottle. It was GONE in approx. 120 seconds.
In just over a decade DAOU has secured a spot near the top of the Paso food chain. From their perch at 2,200 feet, they enjoy access to incredible terroir with calcareous soils that pump wines full of character.
Like all of DAOU’s wines, this ingenious blend of 2/3 Petit Verdot with 1/3 Petite Sirah is inky, large, and voluptuous. Think fresh-out-the-oven-baked-blackberry-pie, soaking black plums, and mocha, with a ripe core of rich, forward, sweet fruit. Lavishly oaked, with lower acid, and a finish that simply does not quit. Spectacularly satisfying from front to back! It’s a well-established fact that 60 degrees in California is way cooler than 30 degrees anywhere else, and THIS is what we want in our glass when it’s time to bundle up. Put the beef stew in the slow cooker, light the fire, pour a glass, and enjoy.
You could buy their Pessimist for the same price OR step it up a notch, get this for the same price, and relish in your shrewd wine shopping skills.
Got some? Good. You won today.

“The 2020 Bodyguard is broader and more layered, with lots of currant fruits, chocolate, and spice as well as full-bodied richness, a round, expansive texture, and a great finish. It’s another winner.”
