Mission Codename Blend me up
Did you miss the now sold-out Member’s Blend? Well, Perry’s to the rescue!
Robert Parker is right; “Juslyn has been a solid performer for many years, but the most recent vintages exhibit a profound rise in quality, yet prices remain realistic for high-end Napa wines.”
Oh yea, we’re crashing through your inbox like the Kool-Aid man but instead of red dye #40 and sticky high fructose corn syrup, we’re overflowing with big, sultry mountain-powered goodness!
Juslyn has been turning out fantastic wines for years, and when we’re lucky enough to score a few cases as they sell out fast. So, we’re beyond stoked to have this net gem for you, today, while it lasts.
Parker continues his rave “It seems to me that Juslyn is still somewhat under the radar for many wine consumers, but this is irrefutably an up-and-coming serious producer on Spring Mountain… brilliant examples of elegant Bordeaux-styled Cabernets, with freshness, outstanding aging potential, and beautiful purity and depth.” calling Juslyn “one of the finest sources of top quality wine on Spring Mountain.”
This wine brings all that high elevation, mountain-grown power, and the complexity of 2018 you crave. To sweeten the deal, we finessed that price from $110 down to the world’s lowest, fact check your heart out - the price can’t be beaten!
For this vintage, the winemaking baton is passed from Angelina Mondavi to Brian Kosi who cut his teeth at addresses you may have heard of, such as Opus One, Plumpjack, BV, Freemark Abbey… and it’s evident here that he knew exactly what to do with what Ms. Mondavi started: letting the glorious Spring Mountain terroir speak, loud and clear. Same site, same fruit, two superstar winemakers back-to-back.
Perry’s Blend has always been a strong wine in their lineup, with a track record back to 2002 earning big points from critics. This is just flat-out inky, burly, FULL THROTTLE from every angle. A truly staggering wine, packed with jammy black currant, torrefaction, wood spice, licorice, and tobacco leaf. Powerful tannins beg for a fatty cut of steak, or pork belly - or just enjoy as a meal on its own. Lay it down a year, 10, or 20+ years if you want - you’ll be happy opening it on any date between now and then.
But first, you need to get some before it goes poof…
91+ Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“A blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Perry’s Blend features charming cigar box complexities on the nose, plus a decent helping of black cherries. It’s medium to full-bodied, velvety and approachable, but it appears to have the stuffing to age at least a decade. Drink 2023-2032.”
