Mission Codename More rain
Precious little of the 2011 all gone… but with our infinite foresight we stocked up another vintage for you. Now we turn to the excellent 2013. There’s even less, so be warned.
Again, fashioned from the dream team of Duncan Arnot Meyers (winemaker of the year, even)… Steve Matthiasson** (Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Spottswoode, and like half of the cult wine club) along with Lee Martinelli, Jr. (yes, THAT Martinelli) A star studded cast no doubt. “Powerful but lithe wines” as Vinous calls them.
We’re cool still. Not freaking out at all. Ok, maybe we’re fangirling a little. No, a lot.
I mean, proprietors Jim and Margaret Foley put together the dream team here and we have it for an absurd price!
A massive 74% off a $95 Sonoma Red Blend?!?
A wine the Los Angeles Times called “stunning”?!
I’m so in. You should be too. Sometimes it’s good to be a follower, right?
The word Petrichor defines that intoxicating smell that arises from damp earth after the rain. Petrichor, the vineyard, is a slice of heaven in the heart of Sonoma County. Proprietors Jim and Margaret chose to start a winery to express their dedication to terroir-driven wines, and the word Petrichor embodied the whole vibe. They expect you to get hit with the eloquent expression of their vineyard atop Redwood Hill, and remember it time and time again.
Truly the heart of an Old World wine coming out of a New World body!
It’s a passion project so minute that only a couple of raving reviews exist on past vintages by Antonio Galloni’s Vinous and spot on nonetheless with “sexy, floral-accented aromas of candied dark berries, olive, potpourri, and cracked pepper… superb clarity, floral and spice-dominated persistence…”
And for 25 bucks a bottle, you better stop reading this ‘cause this 2013 won’t last either!
