Mission Codename Peachy Keen
… showcasing energy and balance… – Vinous
The Beckett family coming back at ya! Today we bring you one of the OG rockstars of Paso Robles. This legendary winery has throwing down awesome wines since 1988. We recently had luck on our side and get our hands on a couple of their epic 2019 vintage gems.
Wine Spectator has them among the top 100 wineries in the world. No argument there!
And the 2019 vintage was one for the record books. While Doug and Nancy founded and spearheaded the winery for decades, 2019 was the year their sons, Josh and Jake, came back into the fold after much success with Chronic Cellars. The prodigal sons had returned!
And they came back swinging! 93 points from Wine Enthusiast on this DEVINE Cabernet Sauvignon. We call it a divine deal.

As Antonio Galloni’s Vinous recently reported, Peachy has been on the up and up: “Brothers Josh and Jake Beckett took the reins of their family’s iconic winery (established in 1988) in June 2019, but their father and the winery’s founder, Doug, is still very a much presence. In the early 2000s, I had a number of fine wines here, mostly Zinfandels, but the Becketts have been seriously stepping up their game in recent vintages, especially since 2015. I find a greater degree of polish now, as well as brighter fruit and better tannin integration than a decade ago… showcasing energy and balance, even though there’s plenty of ripeness to the wines as well.”
This one is bold, elegant, and worth waaaaay more than what we have it at today. Dark fruits and playful herbs on the nose. A touch of Cab Franc, Malbec, and Petite Sirah makes this Cab superbly balanced and intensely complex. Flavors of dark cherry and mixed red and black berries, mint, chocolate, and luscious cedar come at your tongue like waves of magic wrapped up in fine, elegant tannins. Heat those cast-iron pans up cause this massive Paso Cab deserves a juicy steak seared to perfection.
Rarely seen outside of the winery’s inner circle and one for the history books, we didn’t get that much of this beauty. Better get on it before them hoarders. Seriously, we’ve all got cases hidden for ourselves.
Run, don’t walk to that cart! If you miss out, we may have one more Peachy for ya, coming up…
93 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Rustic aromas of dark loam and dense wood meet with clean lines of wild berries on the nose of this bottling, which is bolstered by 10% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 2% Petite Sirah. Chalky tannins frame the palate, where boysenberry and violet flavors are lifted by white pepper into the long finish.”
