Mission Codename Good Friday Indeed
Oh, happy day!!
It’s a good ol’ fashioned Store Takeover today and we’re brimming with Bordeaux!
Taking center stage is this gorgeous Grand Cru. But perhaps you should check our Store here first because it’s stocked with some truly EPIC high-scoring gems.
Or do you need an 18-liter, size-of-a-small-child, 1998 Melchiors (18 liters - biggest bottles we’ve ever seen!)? Or Wine Spectator’s #1 Bordeaux of 2022? Some killer 2006 Sauternes? A cult 100-pointer? Or just a straight-up no-brainer, “rich and heady…powerful and super-ripe”, 93 POINT St. Emilion for $24 (right here!)?
But ECOUTER this!!
Some are QUITE limited. And because we’re dropping the prices low like Lil Jon it’s only a matter of time until they are gone.
Yet the top value of the day is right before your eyes.
Describing the overall 2016 St-Émilion vintage, Decanter nailed it “Many estates, particularly on the limestone plateau where water regulation is so successful in hot years, have delivered exceptional wines. The soft quality to the tannins makes them supple and juicy without compromising on the intensity.”
And guess what? Château Patris sits right in that sweet spot.
Just check out that gorgeous packaging - and believe us when we say it truly reflects what’s inside!
When Vinous went barrel-tasting this originally, they found that “The 2016 Patris Querre is super-promising. Pliant, supple and creamy, with fabulous depth, it offers striking richness and intensity. Soft tannins and a huge core of plush, super-ripe fruit are two of the signatures. Blueberry jam, crème de cassis, lavender, mint and white flowers grow into the succulent finish. The 2016 is bold and immediate, but also very nicely done.”
Very nicely done, for $24?!
And today, it’s even better, drinking like a satin robe wrapping your palate up in luxury, with plenty of pleasure to spare. Crème de cassis, graphite, and chocolate characteristics all emerge from this broad, fabulously pure, concentrated beauty. It’s just at the early stages of its drinking plateau and has another decade of prime joy ahead, so stash some for sure. Seriously worth getting that bigger wine fridge for.
Buy by the case - we’re doing so while it lasts.
93 Points – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous
“Rich and heady in the glass, the 2016 Patris Querre is a gorgeous, sumptuous St-Émilion. Inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, chocolate, tobacco and spice are pushed forward. Powerful and super-ripe, the 2016 has a lot to offer. The potent tannins need time to soften, but another few years in bottle should do the trick. The 2016 finishes with real density and substance. This is a terrific showing. Drink 2023-2036.”
