Mission Codename Guess who's back?
Buh-bye B. Leighton…
Guess who’s back? Back again. Paso’s back. Tell a friend.
So this is the wine that you want
To sip and savor, let it flaunt
Its black cherry, vanilla, and spice
It’s a flavor that you can’t think twice
It’s got the power to make you stay
And drink more than just one glass a day
So come on, raise your glass high
And cheers to Peachy Canyon’s Cabernet Blend, oh my!
Well, the Beckett Family does it again! That truly was a much quicker sell-out than we thought but don’t worry. They were nice enough to release another 2019 beauty to us.
All hail the 2019 Para Siempre! Rich, lush, and a wine you will FOREVER be drooling over. All that …energy and balance… Vinous was talking about, IN SPADES!
These legends have been throwing down awesome wines since 1988 and we were lucky enough to get our hands on some of their epic 2019 vintages.
Wine Spectator has named them among the top 100 wineries in the world. Gotta say we agree.
And the 2019 vintage was one for the record books. While Doug and Nancy founded and spearheaded the winery for decades, 2019 was the year their sons, Josh and Jake, came back into the fold after much success with Chronic Cellars. The prodigal sons had returned!
As Antonio Galloni’s Vinous recently reported, Peachy has been on the up and up: “Brothers Josh and Jake Beckett took the reins of their family’s iconic winery (established in 1988) in June 2019, but their father and the winery’s founder, Doug, is still very a much presence. In the early 2000s, I had a number of fine wines here, mostly Zinfandels, but the Becketts have been seriously stepping up their game in recent vintages, especially since 2015. I find a greater degree of polish now, as well as brighter fruit and better tannin integration than a decade ago… showcasing energy and balance, even though there’s plenty of ripeness to the wines as well.”
This blend leads with Cabernet adding Cabernet Franc and Malbec as big gun reinforcements. Beefy and structured, this wine packs a punch that you will ask for time and time again…
Please, sir/mam, may I have some more?
Deep broody red plum, decadent chocolate, well-seasoned leather, sweet pipe tobacco, and layers of blackberry preserves. The palette is well structured and balanced with a lingering finish to die for! May require some patience as Vinous suggests unless you remember to pop and decant it in the morning.
This one too is rarely seen outside of the winery’s inner circle, and at UNDER $30 today, it’s a steal, one for the history books.
At almost half off people??! Lesson learned, no? Don’t let this one pass you by!
91 Points – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous
“Inky ruby. Powerful, oak-accented black and blue fruits, pungent flowers and vanilla on the expansive nose. Plush and broad in the mouth, offering intense cassis and cherry-vanilla flavors and suggestions of mocha and cola. Turns spicier with air and finishes very long and smoky, with steadily mounting tannins and repeating vanilla and blue fruit notes. Drink 2025-2034.”
