Mission Codename I love you, mom...
Do you have a mother? Are you a mother?
Or do you just love lush Chardonnay that flows with deep ripe fruit, a touch of buttery goodness, and overall impeccable balance?
At OVER half off, this is a must-have for Mother’s Day. Or for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday… etc,!
For EIGHTEEN DOLLARS it drinks better than just about anything in the $30-40+ range or way higher even. Bonus points for the gorgeous label and reference “I love you to the moon and back” which makes it a perfect gift.
We’re not surprised by how good it is. Winemaker Erica Stancliff learned from the best - Paul Hobbs.
It actually started when winemaker Erica Stancliff was only 10. Hobbs came over for a dinner and brought a bottle of 1997 Michael Black Merlot from Napa. Hobbs poured her a taste and asked her to smell the glass and describe what she smelled. Out poured adjectives that would have made any wine writer proud. Then she tasted it. Again, the sensory descriptors flowed.
Hobbs’ response: “you need to be a winemaker!” And so, the stage was set, eventually Hobbs later took her under his wing. From there she spent time at Crossbarn, Rudd Estate, and her own label Trombetta before making her way to Furthermore…
Later he became a mentor, taking her under his wing as she became more interested in wine. From there she spent time at Crossbarn, Rudd Estate, and her own label Trombetta before making her way to Furthermore. She also held the title of enologist under Michael Browne (of THE Kosta Browne.)
Anywho. She’s a damn fine winemaker as this proves. This is truly a crowd-pleasing, classic California Chardonnay from a single vineyard owned and farmed by the winery on the Sonoma County side of Carneros and it shows that pedigree throughout. Lush and ripe on one hand, but balanced and bright on the other. Packed with harmonious flavors of lemon meringue and juicy pineapple, just-ripe pears, and green apples. Some toasted brioche and hazelnuts hang around the back with a kick of clove and spice on the long, creamy finish.
Just stupendous stuff at this price, and stupidly drinkable.
Make it easy on yourself and grab a case, or two at this irresistible price, for MOM’s sake. This is the treat she wants or needs!
