This is a masterful rendition full of “gorgeous nuance and tons of class” as Vinous describes the Freeman style best. Mes Filles is a tiny vineyard near Sebastapol, perched above the fog line at the crown of a hill. Fine sandy soils provide excellent drainage, while long hours of sunlight and Pacific winds offer the perfect balance of warm and cool conditions. Only a few choice producers got access to this fruit - Alquimista (Greg LaFollette), One Acre (Michael Zardo), and Kanzler (Alex Kanzler). And you’ll pay twice as much for every one of those examples.
