Mission Codename The Val in VALUE
Ladies and Gentlemen, ahem… testing 1, 2, 1, 2, are we live?
Hot of the Press: Brand New 2021 CLOS DU VAL CAB!
Looks like wine.com just sold their allocation out at $79.99, how about we knock that down by 40%?!
Clos du Val. Say that repeatedly with us. Poetic! A pillar in the Napa Valley fine wine scene, founded in 1972. A powerhouse that joined with Chateau Montelena and other California wineries to dominate and win in the Judgement of Paris in 1976. One of the most reliable trusted Napa producers on the map.
Yup, the infamous one that San Francisco Chronicle defined as “one of the grande dames of the Napa Valley… returning to its roots, focusing on what it does best and making smaller amounts of better quality wines.”
No press yet on this truckful that just hit our warehouse. With decades of recognition and consistency, you already know what to expect. This vintage was a great one, and here are some tasting note excerpts for the highly rated, and similarly excellent 2019, that may as well not be as intense or fresh as this 2021 now: “marrying ripe cherries and hints of cassis with gentle notes of sage and cedar… Nicely done.” Wine Spectator added “A sleek, polished style, with cassis and plum notes driving through, carried by a graphite spine and backed by tobacco, briar and savory notes.” While Vinous agreed with a style that is “bright and punchy, with terrific energy driving a core of red/purplish berry fruit.”
Clos du Val altogether SKIPPED 2020, so act fast, as the world is thirsty for greatness. How about 2021s? A recap by Vinography who freshly and accurately reported that “Napa has had a number of excellent vintages in recent years, my favorites being the 2019, 2013, and 2010, but from my tasting yesterday, the 2021 vintage blows them all away… I can’t remember any of them possessing the perfect balance of fresh acidity, brilliant fruit, and supple fineness of tannin that I found in the best wines…”
When only the BEST will do, at the BEST price anywhere. Ready, set, GO!
