Mission Codename Negotiations not needed

Most days you do need to be a millionaire’s son to afford Hundred Acre. One of Napa’s best wines has risen from $299 to nearly $1000 per bottle over the years.

But not today!! Your Agents of Wine pulled off a serious win. Because guess what?

Hundred Acre that’s affordable DOES exist.

Some might consider this a “second” wine to their flagships but the reality is it plays second fiddle to none and delivers all the luxury and hedonistic qualities you’d expect. You do need to move extra speedy-like because we have precious little of this beauty. First come, first served!

Hundred Acre sits among a core group of Napa’s most prized, coveted, and perennially high-scoring wines. But the prices…oof.

Jayson Woodbridge founded Hundred Acre in 1998 and was immediately propelled into stardom, hitting the Wine Spectator Top 100 list with his second vintage. To date, he’s earned at least TWENTY 100-point scores from Wine Advocate alone. Every vintage gets 95+ scores from the pros. We’ve watched Jayson’s wines go from $200 to $300 to $400 over the last ten years, with many hitting closer to $1k on the secondary market.

So, this is a refreshing change of pace.

Here’s what Robert Parker had to say: “One of California’s (perhaps the world’s) most flamboyant, talented, contrarian wine producers is Napa Valley’s Jayson Woodbridge, the owner of Hundred Acre winery. Woodbridge has been running in high gear since his debut in 2000.” and goes on to say “The most common characteristic among all of the Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignons is their incredibly opulent, creamy textures. That character vindicates Woodbridge’s harvesting decisions as he seems to achieve extraordinarily sweet, noble tannins in all of his wines.”

Stylistically it fits the mold you’d expect. Flamboyant and ripe with a seemingly endless wave of velvety layers. Red currant, cassis, sweet pomegranate, blackberry coulis, violets, toasted oak, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is extraordinary. The finish never quits. Talk about a crowd-pleaser!

Very VERY little of this one so don’t be surprised when it’s sold out…go go go!

94 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Riper and substantially more expressive than the 2018, Fortunate Son’s 2019 Red Wine The Diplomat is a plush, luscious wine, laden with black cherries, mocha and loam notes. It’s full-bodied, rich, velvety and supple, with a lingering finish. Like the previous vintage, it’s mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a fair whack of Merlot. Drink 2023-2033.”

94 Points – Jeb Dunnuck

“The 2019 The Diplomat comes from a handful of sites and would give a great Pomerol a run for its money with its darker red and black fruits, smoky herbs, and earthy goodness on the nose. These carry to a full-bodied, rounded, opulent 2019 with sweet, building tannins and a great finish. Give it a few years. Drink after 2025.”
