Empyreum is one of those projects we have very little intel on, but we do know this. It drinks like a champ! Sourced from a single vineyard in Rutherford - that’s not surprising. In a land populated by big shots like Inglenook, BV, Freemark Abbey, Alpha Omega, Caymus, and Scarecrow this seems too good to be true. Yet… here we are.

The winemaker is up-and-coming Miguel Caratachea of Punch Vineyards and Bougetz Cellars, with earlier stints at Frogs Leap and Stonegate. Hailing from the extraordinary 2019 vintage, this pops with all manner of luscious black fruit. Deep blackberry, ripe black cherry, exotic woods, dusty spices, and sweet vanilla bean. Coupled with the perfect acidity, a nice treatment of oak, and of course OUR PRICE. $40?! You’ll be feeling like you got away with something.
