From the heart of West Paso Robles, Kaleidos Wines is the passion project of Steve Martell. After working a few harvests in Paso, he bought property, parked his Airstream and hand planted 2500 vines. The brand has grown, and he has gotten his fair share of critical acclaim for Kaleidos as well as for his time making wine with Craig Stoller at Sextant.

As many wines from the Tin City neighborhood, Kaleidos OVER DELIVERS. Think taking a painting course from Picasso or asking Thomas Keller to make you a PB&J.

Or a lesson on blending from Robert Parker himself, who exemplified Kaleidos as “another example of a Paso Robles winery where the blended wines are superior to the varietal offerings. This reinforces my opinion that wineries that can fashion a blend generally turn out better, more complex wines than single varietal efforts.”

And for this TreeSky per se, Wine Enthusiast chimes in with a similar note: “Berry aromas are quite tangy on the nose of this red blend. The palate’s tart blackberry core is angular at first, before a bit of wood rounds out the experience.”

The winery name originates from a shop Steve’s mother had when he was a kiddo where she sold kaleidoscopes and other cool pieces of art, the meaning goes deeper. Just as light and color come together in a kaleidoscope, vines combine the elements of soil and light to develop distinct, alluring layers of flavor in the wine.

In this wine, expect deep fruit and spice aromas. Smooth silky flavors of red and blue fruits burst on the palette and play perfectly well with notes of plum, violets and pepper. This is a wine that will pair with your BBQ and your summer meat dishes.
