Not just one, Stagecoach plus what remains of their hugely popular Roussanne here in the Store!
Atelier Melka, dear Ops. Yes, by THAT Phillipe Melka and his team and fruit from the LEGENDARY Stagecoach Vineyard that spans Pritchard Hill on one side and Atlas Peak on the other.
Did we mention the crazy low price? WAY OVER 50% OFF for a Stagecoach red is a rare sight as Stagecoach by Paul Hobbs, Alpha Omega, PlumpJack, Pott, The Debate, Macauley all go for $150, $180, and even $250! And today we are offering you the same fruit for a fraction of the cost!
Husband-and-wife team Scott MacFiggen and Regina Bustamante started their adventure into fine wine by traveling thoroughly in France for work. The relationship evolved (hello workplace romance!) with their appreciation for well-crafted wine.
Fast forward to a series of brilliant decisions. 1) Start a winery in Sonoma 2) Use Old World techniques to pay homage to the French wine style 3) Hire Kieran Robinson as consultant winemaker who cut her chops at Pierre Gaillard and Cakebread and was recently succeeded by Philippe Melka! 4) Keep it small and focus on making wines in the “California Sun with a French Soul” and 5) Get in on magic sites like Stagecoach.
Shows exactly what you would expect from such a celebrated site. Napa’s largest contiguous vineyard, Stagecoach offers deep concentrated flavors and rich, lush textures, special for many reasons. Besides the unique shape of the vineyard (almost like a bowl) it boasts ideal climate, altitude, and soils for hardy Bordeaux varietals like the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc found in this blend. Dive into an all-encompassing world of deep, dark fruit. Red and blue shades, with blueberry, black cherry, cocoa and dried figs stacked high and riding on velvety tannins. A pinch of Petite Verdot adds the pixie dust.
It’s all about what Antonio Galloni’s Vinous said for a previous vintage “wines from Stagecoach are often bruisers, but this is remarkably polished… there is plenty to like here.”
Few final cases… get on it!
