Mission Codename For a song

Welcome to another glorious CLASSIFIED offer!

For reasons that will become clear, these wines are so good, so in demand, and so exclusive that they must be hidden behind a cloak of secrecy. Wines you rarely, if ever, see at a discount… And because some wineries are very price-sensitive, their mailing list members would go ballistic seeing a deep deal on it.

Revealing the name would put our livelihood at stake. Our industry is built on relationships and not wanting to ruffle feathers, sometimes it’s a necessary precaution to redact some of the information.

Unless…

We go full redaction – CLASSIFIED - über-top-secret under the moonless black night with it. Or a sun-drenched Friday morning as is the case here.

HOWEVAH. We can drop some breadcrumbs. A little trail of morsels and the savviest of you will probably put the pieces together.

So, let’s put your detective skills to the test. To pursue an enchanting wine from one of Napa’s esteemed producers. Or you can just put your order in, kick back, and treat yourself to a surprise. When it lands on your doorstep, tear open the box and revel at your good fortune and infinite purchasing wisdom.

Let’s dive in - and do it quickly because these Classifieds usually sell out pretty quickly.

First, we have the winemaker - Andy Erickson! A genuine Hall of Famer. You may know him from his Screaming Eagle years. Also, for stints at Harlan Estate and Staglin Family, while still consulting for Dalla Valle and Mayacamas Vineyards along with making his own label Favia.

Next, the retail price is $90, and you may find it for a few dollars less here and there. Certainly, NOWHERE CLOSE to our price, which was allowed ONLY if we played by these rules.

The wine itself is a Médoc-inspired blend. A near-even balance of Cabernet and Merlot, with touches of other Bordeaux varietals to round it out. Four varietals play in perfect harmony… It sees a lower percentage of new French oak (about a third) than many other heavy-handed, overblown Napa counterparts, therefore retaining a freshness while still offering all the ripe and round fruit we know you love.

And for the scores? They are in the “outstanding” category every vintage including this, and the reviews, which we can’t print in their entirety (otherwise you’d surely figure it out) have mentioned things like “plump, juicy and easy to like…” and “easy to drink and silky in feel” with a “round and flavorful palate, with dusty tannins” and that is decidedly a “supple, mouth-filling red.”

So… did you figure it out yet? Willing to take a gamble on a surprise? Enchantment awaits.

You won’t regret it, that’s a given.
