Mission Codename No daoubt
“The Daou wines can stand up to many of the best Napa wines and, although far from inexpensive, they sell for quite a bit less than those of similar or lesser quality from up north.” – Vinous
Soooo, if you recall, we offered this a while back. Well, that may have ruffled the feathers of a few old birds in the industry. But then, we got a few more cases, and now we’re turning to our Deep Cover option to release it into the wild a little more quietly.
The sheer OMG factor here cannot be overstated… sometimes you wonder if “this wine is worth it” and the answer here is an unequivocal YES. It routinely scores upwards of 100 points, this vintage, while just a newborn, is no different.
It’s been called “a sensational Cabernet Sauvignon that can stand up the best out there.” One that is “unbelievably ripe, pixelated frame and fantastic juiciness… this is stunning” and “as I’ve said in the past, these wines compete with the best of Napa Valley and are some of the leading Bordeaux blends from Paso Robles” because “there’s no one else making Cabernet like this in Paso Robles!”
DAOU’s flagship Patrimony will deconstruct your ideas about the limits of winemaking around the globe, and then reassemble them into an altogether new reference point of understanding.
They spare NO expense. The barrel program uses the absolute best - Taransaud T5 for example is a very pricey option that few producers have the luxury to use. Deep like the Mariana trench. Wide like the 405. Packed, stacked, and ready to raise the bar on what you think is possible from Paso. And while others have it upwards of $300+, we are busting it out at by far the lowest price you’ll find anywhere…
Indulge your senses… who knows what tomorrow brings let alone the next couple of hours!
97-100 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“These are the real deal and consistently rank with the finest Bordeaux varieties coming out of California today. The 2019 Patrimony Cabernet Sauvignon continues to show brilliantly. It has a quintessential Cabernet nose of pure crème de cassis, crushed stone, lead pencil, graphite, and tobacco that gains depth and richness with time in the glass. Deep, full-bodied, rich, and incredibly textured, yet still fresh, light on its feet, and beautifully balanced, this gorgeous Cabernet shows what’s possible with the variety from Paso Robles.”
99 Points – The Tasting Panel
“Explodes with youthful boysenberry fruit and violet perfume, with a blackcurrant core and very classy notions of pencil shavings, cedar, bay leaves and cigars. The palate is full-bodied and packed with ripe, mineral-laced fruits in a firm, finely grained and fresh frame, and it finishes long.”
98 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The 2019 Patrimony Cabernet Sauvignon was made with free-run juice and matured for 30 months in 100% new French oak. It has a deep ruby color and alluring tones of truffle, brown sugar and coffee to begin, opening with time to very pure cassis, boysenberry, tobacco, garrigue and aniseed. The palate is supple and fresh with surprisingly restrained, mineral-laced fruits and a fan of spicy accents across the long finish. This ultra sleek, elegant Cabernet evolves continually in the glass and has the harmonious structure it needs to go the distance in the cellar. Drink 2023-2038.”
