Mission Codename If you only knew the power of the pink side
“Do, or do not, there is no try.” – Master Yoda
So, we did…
After all, Skywalker Ranch is roughly a 5-minute jumpspeeder ride away from Wine Spies HQ.
Here it is, all hail… the official Rosé of the Star Wars Galaxy!
Couple of years ago Wine Advocate gleefully announced that “This 200-plus acre property was purchased for a reported $14 million in 2017 by Skywalker Vineyards (George Lucas’s wine company) … Look for better things from this estate in the future.”
That future is NOW, dear Operatives. And this pink beauty is BIG on flavor. Thanks to its unusually brave blend of roughly half Grenache Noir, third Cinsault, sixth Cabernet Sauvignon, and topped by a splash of Syrah, it’s chock-full of ripe red and black berries, with dashes of matcha and white pepper for an exotic twist. It’s super unfair on all the top neighbors around with tons of fruit in perfect harmony with savory elements, like Darth Maul pulling the dual lightsaber on the Jedi.
Even People magazine headlined “George Lucas Buys $14.2 Million Vineyard Next to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s French Estate” adding that “In a galaxy not so far, far away - the South of France - the director now has a new plot of land.”
Why would Lucas splurge if the place wasn’t truly special? As Wine Enthusiast said for the previous vintage, “the vineyards at an elevation of 900 feet give a cool, elegant character to this wine.”
Wine Spectator also recognized that “After being purchased by George Lucas’ Skywalker Vineyards in 2017, the historic Château Margüi saw a massive renovation… The organically farmed estate now incorporates gravity-flow design, which eliminates pumping to avoid oxidation, and each plot is vinified separately to enable more control over blending and flavor profile. ‘Precision winemaking like this is becoming much more common in Provence, the Rosé category is getting more serious, with a growing number of producers aiming to achieve excellent wines.’ says winemaker Yann Jouët.”
One last thing to add… May the Force Be With You WHILE IT LASTS!

“A lychee color with light pink reflections, it gives off aromas of wild strawberries on the nose, followed by a crunchy mouthfeel of ripe red berries, and slightly smoky notes.”
