Mission Codename Black Friday Week
ROARRRRRR with us!!!
No, we aren’t pumping Katy Perry in the office. But we are feasting on this MIGHTY 97+ rated (don’t forget 95WE, 96JD) Cab from Paso Robles!
“It’s Official: Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Rivals the World’s Best” writes Wine Business Online! And here we have one of the best Cabs from the region at the best price in the world.
“Daniel Daou’s Bordeaux-variety-centric wines are among California’s most successful expressions of those grapes not just in Paso Robles, but in the New World” adds Antonio Galloni’s Vinous continuing “no expense has been spared by the Daou family in their pursuit to show that this region deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Napa when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. To my mind, they are succeeding, heartily, including the jaw-dropping Patrimony bottlings…”
Few wines can leave us so utterly speechless and rattle our minds like this does.
It’s on another level, capable of taking WOTN against the likes of Schrader, Phelps, To Kalon Reserve, Realm, and just about any other cult pick you can muster up from here to Bordeaux or in between. With this wine, DAOU planted their flag in the dirt, summoned their inner King Leonidas, and roared, “THIS IS PASOOOO!!”.
It pays tribute to their patriarch, Joseph Daou, and stands as one of their greatest wines ever made. Which says a lot. If you like the Insignias, the Special Selections, and similarly built cult reds, you will LOVE this.
Get it while you can. Like other Deep Cover offers, it’s VERY limited and will go fast.
97+ Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The 2019 Soul of a Lion is a blend of free-run Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Cabernet Franc (14%), and Petit Verdot (9%), aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque ruby in color, it offers aromatic contrast between dark, savory cherry fruit, chargrill and graphite, and top notes of green pepper and rose petals. The palate explodes with detailed flavors and its tannins are already resolved and chocolaty, with seamless acidity and exotic spicy layers emerging on the extended finish. Wow! Drink 2022-2042.”
96 points - Jeb Dunnuck “Always a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot that’s brought up in new barrels, the 2019 Soul Of A Lion sports a dense purple hue as well as a beautiful nose of pure crème de cassis, currants, chocolate, crushed stone, and tobacco. It’s rich and full-bodied, with a voluptuous texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish.”
95 points - Wine Enthusiast “Toasted espresso bean, charred walnut shell and seared meat aromas ride atop a dark cassis tone, all contributing to the portrait of a brooding wine. That classic toasty, woody element spreads through the palate, as dark cocoa dust sprinkled across rich berry sauce flavors get a light pop of mint on the finish.”
