Mission Codename BB1
Another outstanding offer from Buccella!
Actually, make that THREE offers - a small number of this 2019 you see here, an even smaller number of the 2018 next, and finally, enough 2020 to satisfy the masses (hopefully).
All for a fraction of what you’d pay for ANYWHERE else.
For those in the know, this is the “baby Buccella.” Some of you are old enough to remember when Buccella hit the scene 20 years ago. An OG cult wine that sells for $225 or so today. They rose to fame first with Mark Herold initially lauded as “Sexy, Pomerol-styled reds that bring to mind the brilliant Hundred Acre from Jayson Woodbridge… Kudos to proprietors Bill and Alicia Dean for such an impressive beginning.”
Mica is the “second” label to Buccella’s flagship Cabernet, but it’s second to none in terms of quality. Just to put things into perspective, Baby Scarecrow, by the same winemaker, goes for $250-300 a bottle. Flamboyant. Sexy. Modern, stacked with bold fruit, and ready to take WOTN against many a $200+ cult competitor. And at our price, it’s about a third the cost of the flagship Buccella. Originally destined for restaurants only - impossible to get, even via the winery. Certainly not on store shelves anywhere.
It’s fairly extracted, plush, and loaded with ripe fruits. Dripping with chocolate coated maraschino cherries, Tahitian vanilla bean, sweet baking spices, and wrapped in a plush, velvety texture. It flashes many of the same qualities of its “big” brother Buccella, but costs about 4x less.
When we brought you a vertical of 2007-2011 Mica last year straight from the winery library, every vintage sold out in minutes. We landed a few other vintages since then - but the 2019 is straight up one of the best yet. We shuffled and shimmied to grab as much as possible. But it’s never enough.
Our price? At $65 you’ll feel like you did something illegal to get it. Quite simply, one of the finest library Napa Cabs you can find anywhere today. Maybe THE finest at this price.
Mica wines were never submitted for ratings or reviews. Our guess? An easy 94-95 points. They don’t need the scores to sell, though. So, to guide you, here is an overall Napa Valley Cabernet harvest assessment…
Remember, this will go fast, and the 2018 after it even faster…
