Mission Codename Kouign-amann
“One of my favorite wineries.” – Robert Parker
No doubt! Beau Vigne has always been on their game, busting our huge wines with huge scores. And we’re breaking down the price barrier on this big score!
95 POINT Cab and under $30!? Tough to beat that, eh?
Rock bottom isn’t usually a great place to be. UNLESS you’re talking about pricing for top-shelf Cabernet. This was released at $70. You might have found it in the wild for $35 yesterday. Today, we take the low road and drive it to an absurd, no-brainer $29.
Diehard Napa Cabernet fans already know Beau Vigne - whether through us recently, or from when they splashed onto the scene in the early 2000s with huge scores. Robert Parker labeled them “one of my favorite wineries.” and they’ve amassed countless 95-100-point wines. Taking over from Kirk Venge after the 2018 harvest, today they have 100-point winemaking stud Julien Fayard (Lafite Rothschild, Smith Haut Lafitte, Melka, Quintessa, Realm, Covert Estate) running the show… and man, he’s just crushing it.
If you scored their recent ‘Icon’ Cabernet blend we offered a while back, you should have a good idea of what to expect here. Layered like a kouign-amann, but instead of sweet puff pastry, you get ripe black cherry, cassis, and blueberry. Mocha, vanilla bean, and toasty oak all carried along the velvety tannins, towering to a finish that makes mountains jealous.
Simply astounding value here! Fill your Locker and ship it out!
95 Points – The Tasting Panel
“Ribbons of blackberry preserves, and milk chocolate create a pattern of bliss. Broad tannins follow a dusty plum-skin path to the finish. Luscious, with Sonoma County’s inherent plush character.”
