Eureka! is what Archimedes would have exclaimed if he were in our shoes when we discovered what makes the MADLY popular V Cuvée blends so fruitful from Vincent. It’s THIS 100% Cabernet that opened our eyes to a Vincent we never knew, as traditional are their Bordeaux-esque V Cuvées, this full-throttle pure Cab is as modern as they come with BIG fruit and unfathomable depth rarely seen in Californians from this far down south.

Dark crimson with shadows of ruby and garnet highlighting the broader circumference. Aromatically bright and explosive on the nose with sweet dark cherries, plum, chocolate, and spice. Rich and glorious on the palate, with intense crème de cassis, new leather, licorice, and dried herbs. Built statuesque for what it costs, this alluring Cabernet fades for long with complexity over the elaborate finish. It truly is the ideal red wine alongside a prime rib roast, thinly sliced, served with creamy horseradish.

Put this in Napa Valley, label it ‘select this’ or ‘reserve that’ and watch it fly at TEN TIMES what you’re paying for it here, today. Sadly, it’s a tiny side-project for Vincent and there were only 2 barrels of it. Needless to say, we bought all for you, drank a few cases (slapping our hands to stop) and you can divvy out the rest. Be kind and considerate please, we want to see all our BIG CAB FANS getting some!

Speaking of Napa, not all of the fruit is from the Vincent Estate here, a small portion comes from Ballard Canyon, not too far away, where Screaming Eagle owns Jonata, and according to their winemaker; “afternoons can be intense but the temperature drops by between 5°C to 10°C almost immediately as the ocean air breezes in” which brings a huge day to night shift in temperatures, resulting in wines THIS intense.

Just last year, San Francisco Chronicle wrote; “Santa Barbara is the most dynamic wine scene in California” explaining “There is no more dynamic of a wine-tasting scene in the world than what can be experienced in Santa Barbara County right now. Thanks to the Transverse Range, the mountains and valleys on this southwestern corner of California run east to west, rather than north to south, it’s the only place on the West Coast of the Americas where this geographic anomaly occurs. Viticulturally, the significance is that the Santa Ynez and Santa Maria valleys open directly onto the frigid Pacific Ocean, and then snake inland, where the climate grows warmer each mile as the impact of fog and wind dwindle. That means while cool-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay can thrive near the coast, grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc that enjoy a bit more heat can excel in the deeper areas.”

Years before that though, Wine Spectator was first to rave about the potential of Bordeaux blends here; “Brander, Zaca Mesa, Firestone and Byron were early Cabernets advocates dating to the 1970s and 1980s. Those wines came from cooler parts of the county now favored for other grapes, and fell out of favor as those grapes gained popularity…. Modern viticultural practices and better matching grape to climate and soil types have given Cabernet in Santa Barbara a happy reprise. The further east and inland, the warmer the sites, and the happier for Cabernet.”

Here’s the bottom line: 75% savings on $75 = 19, AND shipping included on 4 bottles, if you waited until you read this far, and still see some left to grab, max out your budget and make room in your stash, 100% CAB this good may never be seen again under $20!
