Mission Codename Reuilly Suave

Calling all Sancerre fans and Loire geeks today!

Who says a Pinot Gris/Grigio HAS TO be white?

Here’s the coolest, most suave rosé we’ve encountered in a while. A remarkable value at $17!!

Drinks like a Sancerre with a dash of freshly picked wild berries and herbs. Easy on the pocketbook too, unlike Sancerre. And located just an hour to the East in bucolic, idyllic Reuilly (pronounced rue-yee).

Even a few wine pros know that Pinot Gris is a grape capable of pink wines. As a mutation of its mother Pinot Noir. When ripe, the skin turns a pale shade of reddish purple, and inside those skins is hidden the potential to make a killer rosé. The exactly same phenomena exists in Italy, explained by Decanter as “Ramato is for the wine lover who wants more from their Pinot Grigio, but don’t go thinking it’s just another rosé…”

Delicate and charming strawberry, cranberry and watermelon fruits, medium-bodied richness, a touch of spearmint, and a clean, classy, nicely focused style on the palate are its appeal. Beautifully done, this is a delicious dry rosé to drink over the coming summer months with bacon wrapped prawns, refreshing poolside salads, or on its own, well-chilled is the key, we are piling up by the case!

Normally, this boutique beauty is quite pricey as the quality is thru the roof with Dyckerhoff wines. While there are no scores yet on the 2021, for a previous vintage Wine Enthusiast nails what to expect: “properly pale in color, this light rosé made from Pinot Gris is smooth and full of red-berry flavors. Its attractive combination of acidity, fruit and zesty texture make it immediately refreshing.”

Too lazy to make mojitos, or nojitos too boring? *THIS, then is the answer while here…
