Mission Codename Rhymes with tai chi
We knew the Las Piedras Cabernet would sell out. What do you expect when we shave that much off the top line price??
But we were ready with another smash hit from Guarachi. This time, a rockin’ rich, ultra-lavishly styled Pinot. Fans of light, elegant Burgundian style, please look away because it flaunts that show-me-the-biceps type personality.
Some key factoids to know:
• Big scores - 95 points from Tasting Panel, 93 from Wine Advocate, and 92 from Wine Enthusiast
• Sourced entirely from select Sun Chase Vineyard lots
• Made by a disciple of the Paul Hobb$ school of winemaking
• Nearly half off!
The fruit comes from a combination of lots in the Petaluma Gap’s Sun Chase vineyard. Winemaker Julian Gonzalez comes straight from the school of Paul Hobbs winemaking. And it shows. This tastes expensive - as a $65 Pinot should… but of course, at our price today it somehow tastes even better. Quite full-bodied, lush, and highly aromatic. MOUNTAINS of black cherry pie, strawberry licorice, cola, and vanilla, with a nice dose of baking spices thrown in. Dense, round, and opulent, but still retains enough acidity to keep it lively.
Again, if you know Guarachi, you know what to expect here. And if you’re still one of the uninitiated few who has not tried their wines… well, we can’t click for you! Don’t miss out!
95 Points – The Tasting Panel
“The 2017 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir has very attractively fresh and bright fruit aromas here. This Pinot has power with an edge of soft and supple texture, around a ripe core of bright, red-cherry, and red-plum flavors. The focused finish holds long and true. Drink or hold.”
93 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The 2017 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is pale to medium ruby-purple with aromas of blue fruit preserves, warm red cherries and baked blackberries with potpourri and orange peel plus notes of dried leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with intense, spicy red, black and blue fruits, finely textured grainy tannins and a layered finish. Drink 2019-2027.”
92 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“This bold, flavorful wine has a baked quality to its rich notes of strawberry and cherry. Rich and smoky in oak, it showers the fruit in savory elements of clove and nutmeg, the whole layered and unabashedly full bodied.”
