Mission Codename Hawk 'n PV be this good?
“This lavish and layered wine illustrates the ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’ effect…” – WE
A tremendous wine! An astounding price! A rarely seen varietal!
Blink and you might miss your chance to score this 94-pointer Petit Verdot from one of our all-time favorite producers. Trust your Agents of Wine - this is a deal you need to lock down.
We’ve sold their Cabernet by the boatload. Blown our backs out filling orders for their Petite Sirah. And today we’re back with another never-before-seen Hawk and Horse special for anyone who likes BIG, plush, weighty, structured reds.
Petit Verdot is normally a blending grape. In the right hands, it turns into something quite special.
About those hands… By now you may know about their winemaker, Dr. Richard Peterson. Haven’t heard of him? You’ve surely heard of Screaming Eagle and Heidi Peterson Barrett. Get this - before Heidi, it was her dad, Dr. Peterson who led the first four vintages of Screaming Eagle into cult stardom.
Nothing subtle about this one. Violet-tinted licorice, wild Maine blueberries, spicy, toasty oak, silky dark chocolate/mocha, and blackberry pie, are all fighting for the spotlight here. Call it an “iron fist in the velvet glove.” Or a linebacker turned ballerina. Or just shockingly delicious. And if you need a blinder to fool all the Cabernet drinkers with, this is it.
A special wine, no doubt. Unlike past offers from Hawk and Horse we know we don’t have enough of this one. Get some while it’s here!
94 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“This lavish and layered wine illustrates the ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’ effect as it holds its tempting oak-spice aromas and dark-chocolate flavors in impressive fine-grained tannins. Scents of cinnamon, cocoa, clove and a hint of tobacco lead to ripe blueberry and blackberry flavors. Best from 2025.”
