Mission Codename The way
What’s the optimal way to kick off a chilly, rainy New Year?
With a big ol’ face-ripper of a Zin of course!
So yes, that is Zinfandel in my coffee cup at 7:45 am. Not that anyone asked (perks of working from home and such). Jake’s Big Zin lives up to the name in style. But the price? Not big. Small, in fact. With near 60% OFF we whittled this $65 wine to under $35.
This is for the hedonists and thrill-seekers out there. Or anyone who likes hard-charging, full-throttle, drop-a-gear, and push-it-to-the-limit type reds.
This is the way. The Bordigionian way.
Many of you know Dean Bordigioni from his work with Annadel Estate. He brings that hard-charging, life-in-the-fast-lane take to winemaking and that’s on full display here. Fruit comes from Los Chamizal (a Deerfield Ranch favorite too) in Sonoma Valley where beautifully terraced vines thrive in the volcanic, mineral-rich soils at 800 feet elevation. This wine comes from “our block” at the very top.
If you like your Zin big, chock full of ripe fruit, and extracted then this is for you. Prepare for a stampede of ripe raspberries, sweet red licorice, toasty caramel, and baking spices galore. A decent zip of acidity keeps this otherwise untamed beast slightly in check, and those fine tannins give it the structure and heft to remain more chiseled, less ‘dad-bod’ in style. No doubt this will put some hair on your chest!
This is a perennial favorite around here, but sadly with Dean moving on from the wine business, there’s a limited runway. Here today, gone tomorrow…
