Mission Codename Francraycray
Markham is back! And you guessed it, another reality-altering price shake-up.
Normally you can only find their limited production “Heritage Selection” wines at the winery. This one released at $75 but for you savvy sleuths of wine, we’re breaking it down to $27!!
Markham has been a quintessential blue-chip winery in Napa for decades.] They churn out terrific wines with a consistency that Metamucil can only dream of. For the last 20+ years they’ve had tenured winemaker Kimberlee Nicholls at the helm, and they’re especially known for having one of the most reliable and best Merlots in the game.
But if you visit the winery, you’ll be treated to some special, smaller-production wines. Like this juicy, fruity, fresh, and groovy Cab Franc. Smuggling vines into the States has always been a fun pastime in the wine industry, and rumor has it Bruce Markham brought this Cab Franc bud wood back in his suitcase from vacation.
Today with 45 vintages under the Markham label, they lead the charge of sustainable viticulture in Napa with Nicholls at the helm and a team of badass women behind her. Chances are you’ve had their Merlot - which stands as one of the best in Napa, and a reliable value. But they make a host of other sensational wines, like this one here.
Boy are we happy he did because this one has it GOING ON. 2015 was a banner vintage, and this is just sitting in a perfect window for maximum enjoyment right now. Delivering a feast of juicy plum, raspberry, and chocolate gelato and sweet tobacco, it has all the things you want in a primetime Napa Cab Franc. Without the cray cray price of course!
This is as reliable as it gets for the price, and a sure bet to be a weeknight favorite pull. Rock on with your bad self and fill up that Locker with as many as you can.
