Mission Codename Taking off
“Another producer to keep an eye on.” – The Wine Independent
Thank you, Lisa, we’ve been doing that.
“The first releases show quite a bit of potential.” – Vinous
Have you had these lately, Antonio? They are🔥!
It’s a Prapò Sunday people, ‘the pearl of Serralunga d’Alba’ that only a few winemakers have access to, highly regarded names such as Paolo Scavino, Ceretto, Ettore Germano, Schiavenza clamor over the fruit every vintage. Check out its story told by Davide Fregonese, the owner:
Per Davide Rosso, the famed consulting winemaker behind this beauty, “Barolo needs balance.” So, what exactly is balance? Need one wine to DEFINE that? Look no further! To put it in words, it’s that shooting star you catch on a moonless night, it’s that magical sweet spot, where everything comes together in one sublime, almost ethereal place. This wine has it in spades.
Wild strawberry jam, minerals, smoke, earthiness, and leather are just some of the nuances that emerge in this classically endowed expression of purity and grace. The palate is remarkable for achieving a lovely balance between tannic definition and clarity with vividness. The style is elegant and fine yet with ample robustness and energy through the roof. Pairing options are endless but if you’ve been saving that jar of truffled goodness, bring it out for this one!
With double the 94 points to boost, we got every bottle we could, will it be enough?
94 Points – Decanter
“This is the third vintage for Luigi Vico and the easterly exposition of Prapò contributes to an amazing freshness of fruit here. The wine is fermented in concrete and aged for up to 30 months in large Slavonian oak. The wine shines for its red currant aroma and sweet cinnamon and pomegranate flavours. It’s very acidic on the palate, with massive yet not drying tannins, more velvety than dusty, completed by a good finish showing more red currant fruit. Drink 2023-2038.”
94 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Fragrant and refined, this has enticing scents of red woodland berry, pipe tobacco and blue flower. The palate is linear and elegantly structured, featuring Marasca cherry, raspberry, licorice and a smoky note set against fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity.”
