Mission Codename parTY!
TY CATON! In da house!
How many of his wines have we offered? We lost count. He’s been a fixture on our site since the early days and remains one of the most reliable when it comes to delivering the goods EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
But the bigger BURNING question is when did we last offer the FLAGSHIP TYTANIUM?!
It’s been a while, tbh. Ty can sell this wine at full price through his tasting room or wine club. Or from the trunk of his car at a stoplight probably. So, it is not easy to convince him to let us get our hands on some.
Ty makes some dead-serious Cabs and Cab Blends from his storied estate hillside vineyard high atop the Mayacamas range in the Moon Mountain District. We’re quite sure If these came from the Napa side of the mountain, the prices would be 2-3x as high! This particular wine brings the awesomeness with 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Petite Sirah, 17% Syrah, 8% Merlot, 4% Malbec. This is monster flavor, chewy and dense, and a total crowd-pleaser.
And we love Moon Mountain. You do too even if you don’t know it. You probably know Mt. Veeder, right? Moon Mountain is just on the other side of the Mayacamas range, but in Sonoma. It brings a lot of the same characteristics, but the fruit tends to be a little cheaper. Which means better value to be found.
Case in point, this red blend. OFF THE METER. Dialed up to 15. Squid ink-black, with a hint of purple, this is a big boy. That’s how Ty does it. Not your thing? Look elsewhere. But if you do want that extracted, uber-rich, fruit party in your mouth style, you’ll love it. You’ll find prunes and figs, black cherries and licorice, along with a bit of melted dark chocolate and some vanilla and sandalwood too. Enjoy it on its own, with a hearty steak, or some aged cheddar.
This bad boy will age for a decade or two so don’t insult your future self with just one bottle. Get a couple and throw them in your locker for later. You’ll be happy you did.
