Mission Codename Chalk chalk
“Succulence, tenderness, and flavorful moisture….” This could describe the wine OR describe the perfect steak you’ll be buying with the $50 you’ll be saving on this EPIC score!
Connell Family Vineyards is as real as it gets. And over 60% OFF is as steep as the discounts come for a $75 wine of this caliber.
We are proud to bring these small and hands-on family wineries straight to your front door, dear Operative. If you’re smart (and fast) enough to jump in, that is.
Jim Connell came to California Wine Country from New Jersey and slowly but surely made a name for himself in the world of wine. His resume includes running some of our personal favorites of the wine scene: Domaine Chandon, Bonny Doon, Medlock Ames, and Quivira. All the while, he was building his own property and planting a vineyard in Chalk Hill.
After years of working for others, he cut bait and focused on his own 1,500 vines! At 800 feet elevation, the vineyard is a bit cooler than its neighboring Alexander Valley or Calistoga appellations. This is why Vérité, Medlock Ames, Stuhlmuller, and Lancaster Estate are all within a stone’s throw away. The grapes from this corner of Chalk Hill produce elegant and bold flavors that his former employers would have died to be able to replicate.
And at today’s price, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything from his resume to compare. At $29, this is an outrageous deal that we’re happy to put in front of you!
The 2019 from the estate is the result of a perfectly even and mild summer growing season. Deep garnet in color, red fruits, and spice fill your palate. Intense flavors of blueberry and cassis play delightfully with cedar, cocoa, and cola. Lush, fine tannins balance perfectly with the bright acidity. Slow ripening in the vineyard means layers and layers of flavors and powerful complexity.
These guys just don’t make that much wine in general, and we were only able to get so much so DO NOT DELAY, friends.
