Mission Codename Foursquare

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate says, “you’ll want to get in here fast, the price of this label is an absolute bargain by Napa standards!”

It’s true, you’ll have a very hard time finding a better value Napa Cab at its release price. Last we checked the going rate for straight up Napa Cab was averaging pretty close to $90.

But at our price now at $30?? With all the great accolades?!

It’s a flat-out brain-scrambler of a deal. And all but guaranteed to sell out. AGAIN. Because if you bought some when we first offered it, you already know how good it was - and if you missed out, here’s your final chance.

Owner Ted Henry is an OG in the Napa wine scene, having served time at many top vinous institutions. Currently Director of Winegrowing for Groth(!) he lead Clos du Val for 5 years, Trinchero, and Jarvis, before ascending to his reign as proprietor of Prime Cellars. Prime is his passion project, where he focuses mostly on the Coombsville region. He’s been making Coombsville Cabernet since before it was an appellation! District 4 is insider code for Napa Valley, and he named this blend to include his ‘prime’ sources outside of Coombsville that are too good not to divert his attention.

This juice comes from top vineyards that supply fruit for $100+ bottles made by the likes of Shafer, Hall and Amici. It’s a bold and generous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot sourced from a couple of top sites in Coombsville, Yountville, and Carneros – specific vineyards that must remain unnamed, lest we take some of the hype away from those other wines that fetch much higher numbers.

Once it lands on your doorstep here’s what you do. Pop one open and bask in the abundance of dark red and black berries. Pat yourself on the back for securing at least six bottles because you know a good deal when you see it. Then continue to revel in all the chocolate-dipped cherries, blackberry jam, five-spice, and warm French oak glory that’s bestowed upon your happy little taste buds. It’s soft and expansive, with a gorgeous mouthfeel.

Make no mistake - this Cab hits WAY above its weight class for the price.

Savvy shoppers, you’d better take advantage.

91 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon District 4 has a deep garnet-purple color, sailing out of the glass with lively scents of redcurrant jelly, ripe black cherries and mulberries, giving way to an undercurrent of cassis, cinnamon stick and tobacco leaf. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bags of energetic black and red fruits with fantastic tension and a chewy texture, finishing with a perfumed skip in its step. Drink 2020-2032.”

91 Points – James Suckling

“Lots of blackcurrant leaf, fresh blackberry, dark chocolate, clove and roasted coffee on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Concentrated flavors with a fresh finish. Try from 2022.”

90 Points – Jeb Dunnuck

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon District 4 is a terrific value. Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, this dense purple-hued effort has a solid bouquet of ripe dark fruits, chocolate, and leafy herbs. It’s rich and medium to full-bodied, with a great mid-palate and ripe, chewy tannins. This is a classic, workhorse style Napa Cabernet that offers loads of character. Drink it over the coming 5-6 years or so. Drink 2021-2028.”
