Mission Codename Ho Ho Hogan
Stop. What. You’re. Doing. Pinot lovers come hither! $23 for a Russian River Pinot Noir is UNHEARD OF!
We have just hours before the long weekend unofficially kicks off. Almost time to check out early for a cocktail (and Bottlerock, anyone?). So, here’s what you NEED to know about this producer.
Paro Wines is a boutique produce with as much finesse as the big boys with none of the ego. Patrick Murray, owner and winemaker, started his journey as many of the best winemakers do. In his backyard. Batch by batch and vintage by vintage, he honed his skill and crafted his brand. With a focus on minimalism winemaking style, he believes little intervention brings a celebration of place.
Hogan’s Run Vineyard is in the heart of Russian River Valley and planted in 2000. As we know, the area is PRIME for perfect Pinot Noir and this property boasts a blend of clone 667, 777 and Pommard. This combo gives a perfect combination of fruity overtones, intensity of color and lush earthiness. They also supply gorgeous fruit to names such as Sapphire Hills, Siduri, Paradise Ridge and Amphora.
And this wine has it all. Strawberry, rhubarb pie, cherry cola, black cherry, forest floor, cola and dried mushrooms. With an intensity on the alluring nose draws you into the glass like a cartoon character following the scent of Grandma’s pie. On the palate, you find tannins so silky and fresh surrounded by raspberry and a mélange of herb notes.
Honestly, this is a wine worth twice what they have it priced. It sure makes for an EPIC deal at 57% off!
And you know what boutique means…. Not enough wine to go around. Hundreds of cases made. Many less than that left…Get to it fast!
