Mission Codename Stone juice
Last few bottles. Will. Not. Last.
Burgundy expert Jamie Goode best profiles this precious Domaine - owned by Champagne Bollinger - and its hotshot winemaker: “Chanson was founded in 1750, and still occupies their original home, although they added a new gravity-fed winery in Savigny-lès-Beaune in 2010. They are a Bourgogne negociant doing things the right way. They were purchased by Bollinger in 1999. I visited with celebrated winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron. ‘I don’t like the term negociant,’ he says because he believes they behave like a Domaine… ‘My job is to respect the originality of each territory,’ says Confuron… I was impressed by these wines.”
Preuses is one mighty GRAND CRU. There are just about a half dozen listings of ANY vintage of this out there starting at $100+ a pop. Les Preuses to be ‘précise’ lies sandwiched between other top Grand Crus Vaudésir & Bougros. Sorry for geeking out hard. But does it get better? Some 2019 Preuses are about $1,500 a bottle such as Raveneau, with exactly ZERO percent savings.
But for those in on the Wine Spies circuit? Take 37% OFF this 94-pointer knockout that goes down from the original $120 retail to a virtually guilt-free $75.
Buy with reckless abandon, till it’s gone..

“Notes of toasted biscotti and orange blossom accent this opulently textured Chardonnay. The full-bodied, fleshy wine overflows with pear and yellow-apple flavors. Strikes of steel and chalky minerality lend freshness to the finish. This hedonistic Chablis is at peak now through 2030.”
