If you’ve been waiting for the DEFINITIVE gift for that special someone seriously into wine this is it. Or maybe you’re looking at that special someone in the mirror? Then treat yourself, to a bygone, highly collectible older vintage of the ultimate luxury Jaboulet that money can buy. TRIPLE 94 points! A truly iconic wine known far and wide…
Yours for the lowest price in the whole world and HALF of what it should be…
Wine Advocate most recently raves “The glory of Jaboulet is the legendary Hermitage La Chapelle, which is finally reflecting all of the hard work put into the vineyards by the Frey family and the Jaboulet team”. Rightfully so, too. There simply is no other wine more iconic in the Rhône Valley.
The best part? These take DECADES to reach peak drinkability, and the 2014 will soon be getting there! With some aeration or a thick, juicy cut of your favorite beast, it will make for an unforgettable night.
Fun fact from the Wine Spectator which by the way is a record that stands unsurpassed: “At Christie’s London sale on Sept. 20, 2007, a 12-bottle lot of Paul Jaboulet Ainé Hermitage La Chapelle 1961 sold for $247,747, setting an auction record for any Rhône wine sold at auction. The extraordinary price underlines the continued ascent of Rhône reds in global wine auction markets.” It is a true honor, and a privilege to bring this to you.
Savvy connoisseurs know this serious investment wine well, there’s never enough to go around…
94 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“Caroline Frey and winemaker Jacques Desvernois continue to make a bevy of high-quality wines from throughout the Rhône Valley. Both their 2014s and 2013s show the vintage character nicely, and the wines show fresher, more elegant profiles without sacrificing too much density and depth… there’s no denying the high quality coming from this estate today… the 2014 Hermitage La Chapelle is certainly a success and sports a deep ruby color as well as classic, medium to full-bodied notes of smoked meats, crushed violets, spice, black raspberries and currants. Elegant, seamless, finesse-driven and beautifully layered, with impeccable tannin quality, it will keep for two decades. Drink 2016-2036.”
94 Points – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous
*“According to Caroline Frey and Jacques Desnervois, the energy that marks so many 2014 red wines came about because following veraison, the weather was warm but not so hot that acidity could drop. Just as important was the fact that “the sun didn’t really come out much” and sugar levels didn’t accelerate as they might under sunny, hot conditions. As such, the vineyards didn’t absorb much in the way of daytime heat and the nights were consistently cool as well. The resulting wines should show well young, but I suspect they will also evolve gracefully thanks to their energy and balance. Dark purple. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, cola, incense and smoky minerals, and a suave floral topnote builds in the glass. Stains the palate with deeply concentrated black and blue fruit, violet pastille and spicecake flavors; juicy acidity provides back-end cut and lift. Espresso, licorice and dark fruit liqueur notes cling on an impressively long, expansive finish framed by supple, building tannins. Drink 2022-2030
94 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2014 Hermitage La Chapelle is a beautiful success in the vintage, which yielded more charming, elegant wines that will drink well in their youth. Offering a deep purple color as well as ample black raspberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with classic smoked meat and spice characteristics, it’s medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant on the palate. It has remarkable purity as well as polished tannins and will evolve gracefully for another two decades or more. Drink 2026-2042.”
