“HALL produces some of Napa’s consistently most gorgeous red wines.” – Wine Enthusiast

Everybody knows that by now!

Trouble is, their top-of-the-line cherries always sell out on the mailing list fast year after year, at full prices. This flagship bottle fetches $225 at the winery and slips just under $200 for their club members. Hell, even the half bottles of this go for $119 or so.

Which means seeing our price is like spotting a Sumatran White Rhino on your Disney safari tour.

BUT quantities are limited, so you must move quickly.

Why? Simply put, if you’re into Napa Cabernet and have not experienced a HALL version yet, you are missing out.

Here’s a compilation of praise by Robert Parker: “Congratulations to Kathryn Hall. I have been high on her wines since I first tasted them in the offices of David Ramey… Hall has quickly become one of the great superstars in the Napa Valley firmament… one of the most exciting producers in Napa Valley, having burst on the scene a short time ago and offering a brilliant array of Cabernet Sauvignons… it’s time to jump on the Hall bandwagon, as they are doing everything right, and their wines are among the most exciting being made in the world today.”

This vintage saw a transition in winemaking from one superstar to another, started by the gentleman with Opus One and Chalk Hill under his belt, and finished by the lady who cut her teeth at St. Supéry and Dominus. Antonio Galloni of Vinous “was impressed with the wines I tasted during my most recent tasting at Hall. As always, the wines are flamboyant in style, but I get the sense that Megan Gunderson is trying to give the wines a bit more energy than Steve Leveque did during his tenure as winemaker, while maintaining the opulence Hall fans have come to expect. For now, these are wines Gunderson helped make and blend before she assumed her current role as Vice President of Winemaking.”

And the vineyards, aah the selection that goes into this FLAGSHIP Cab. At the core is a Rutherford crown jewel you may recall from other labels such as Alpha Omega or The Debate. Then there is the mountain fruit in there from the likes of Rainin on Diamond Mountain and Beller on Mt. Veeder. Plus a few others make up this secret barrel select blend approaching perfection.

Round, polished, and full-bodied, it certainly is flamboyant in style as Galloni noted. We were blown away by the intensity of cherries coated in dark chocolate, the exotic spice bazaar, and the espresso beans that linger on and on. It’s powerful and hedonistic, with a creamy texture yet doesn’t come off as being heavy or thick. And the soaring aromatics are just…. muah chef’s kiss!

While the scores say it all, the quantities are already diminishing…

97 Points – Owen Bargreen

“The stunning 2019 HALL ‘Kathryn Hall’ Cabernet Sauvignon offers a seamless, pillowy texture mid-palate. Showing good weight, and underlying acidity. Dense and jam-packed full of blackberry and huckleberry flavors, this connects with espresso grounds and dark chocolate shaving accents. This is dense, hedonistic and silky, remarkably approachable Cabernet Sauvignon that is absolutely delicious to consume right now.”

95 Points – Jeb Dunnuck

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, brought up mostly in new barrels. It’s a killer bottle of wine offering lots of ripe black fruits intermixed with savory herbs, melted chocolate, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows the lush, round, velvety style of the 2019 vintage and is already impossible to resist. It’s going to evolve for 15+ years if well stored. Drink 2023-2039.”
