Mission Codename O true apothecary

Ahem. Where were we? As winemaker Julian Fayard says, “what makes a great wine is the emotion it conveys.” And we have all the feels today. With our epic Classified Wine this morning selling out, we had to find a worthy replacement.

With 97 points from Wine Enthusiast and…. wait for it…. 98 points from The Tasting Panel, this fits the mold. Made by the illustrious, the talented, the one and only Julian Fayard?!

And if that’s not enough, our price? $95 off retail!? Yes!

You probably already know Beau Vigne - whether through some of our past offers, or from when they splashed onto the scene in the early 2000s with huge scores.

Robert Parker labeled them “one of my favorite wineries” and they’ve amassed close to TWO DOZEN 95-100-point wines. Taking over from Kirk Venge after the 2018 harvest, today they have 100-point winemaking stud Julien Fayard (of Lafite Rothschild, Smith Haut Lafitte, Melka, Quintessa, Realm, Covert Estate…) running the show, and man, he’s just crushing it.

Juliet! Star-crossed counterpart to their Romeo, both wines are outstanding and worth the investment. Fayard’s wines don’t come cheap, but they do come hither with all the saturated flavor and intensity you’d expect from this kind of master. Red and black fruit, it is forward and polished without a hard edge in sight. Loaded with ripe raspberry and red currant, abundant black plums, dark chocolate, and blackberry. Graphite, lavender, tobacco, and terrific minerality circling the wagon, wrapping it all into one pleasing and complete package.

“Here’s drink: I drink to thee.”

Shouldn’t come as a surprise when the world’s leading luxury lifestyle publication Robb Report points out that “Julien Fayard has been the winemaker of record for more than a few top-shelf Napa wines—more than 20, to be exact… In the crowded field of Napa Valley (and Sonoma Coast’s icon vineyards too), Fayard has carved out memorable space for his own stable of wines.” Truth.

This. Will. Not. Last. And parting is such sweet sorrow, dear Operative. But you better get to it!

98 Points – The Tasting Panel

“A dynamic profile shows reined-in power. Dense, silky fruit emerges with pencil lead, coffee bean, and crushed violets in a graceful flow of juiciness.”

97 Points – Wine Enthusiast

“This sleek but powerful and concentrated wine offers enticing and deep black cherry, graphite and cocoa aromas followed by fine-grained tannins that tighten up as you sip. The wine is built for the long haul, needing time for more complexity to develop and the texture to soften. Best from 2028–2038.”
