Mission Codename Out #*%ing Standing
Sometimes you just want a big, lush, California-bred Chardonnay all up in your grill. And while some would shame you for this - WE SUPPORT YOU! Your quest for a lip-smacking, creamy, buttered up, tropical dose of sunshiny Chardonnay in your glass is worthy and we’re here to help!
And when you can pay $23 to get this quality? Hell to the yes, all day, every day.
DeLoach has more than 45 years of tinkering with clones, soil types, and winemaking methods. Wine Spectator once called them “one of California’s best producers of Chardonnay.” In 2003 Boisset Collection bought them and continued the legacy. The quality has never wavered, and they get scores left and right to prove it. On top of great scores, Wine & Spirits Magazine named us a Top 100 Winery for the twelfth time in 2012. That is the kind of consistency we love!
According to Pacific Sun “Winemaking at DeLoach has been under the guiding hand of winemaker Brian Maloney, an avid believer in site expressive wines, the differences between Russian River Valley’s six “neighborhoods” and highlighting single vineyards, since 2007. The wines being made are interesting, expressive and multi-dimensional. Also, most of the wines are made in small quantities from as few as 50 cases to a few hundred, in the case of their vineyard designate wines.”
“O.F.S.” means “Our Finest Selection” but at Boisset (and at Wine Spies), it has a nickname: “Out— #*%ing—Standing!” This Russian River Chardonnay is made in that powerful, almost over-the-top style you either love or hate. And if you love it, this is the one.
Pure and bright with loads of pineapple, warm lemon pie, and toasty oak but it also delivers enough acidity to keep it fresh. Throw in some cardamom, baked pear, and buttery brioche and you have all the right stuff. One sip and you’ll be glad you got some - but maybe sad you didn’t buy more! Take it outside, touch some grass, soak up some vitamin D and pump this into your Chardonnay-loving soul.
And at this price, it would be worth picking up a case or two while it’s here!
