Mission Codename For disciples only
As winemaker Julian Fayard says, âwhat makes a great wine is the emotion it conveys.â
Fire up your imagination and picture this: Football is back. Itâs Sunday afternoon, you just popped this open, Redzone is on, and youâre crushing some 97-point (twice) Cabernet on the couch with a bellyful of snacks. Your fantasy team is crushing the life out of your opp, and life is GOOD!
Youâre probably thinking, âthat sounds good and all, but I canât stomach paying $150 for a DOUBLE 97 POINT, Julian Fayard-made, Oakville-sourced Cabernet Sauvignon.â Right? Thatâs where your trusty Agents of Wine come in.
You can see where this is headed. A melon-popping $100+ OFF drops it right into your lap for $49!
By now you might know Beau Vigne - whether through some of our past offers or from when they splashed onto the scene in the early 2000s with huge scores. Robert Parker labeled them âone of my favorite wineriesâ and theyâve amassed close to TWO DOZEN 95-100-point wines. Taking over from Kirk Venge after the 2018 harvest, today they have 100-point winemaking stud Julien Fayard (of Lafite Rothschild, Smith Haut Lafitte, Melka, Quintessa, Realm, Covert EstateâŚ) running the show, and man, heâs just crushing it.
If youâre naming a wine âCultâ it better deliver, and as the name implies, it comes with all the qualities youâd hope for in a triple-digit Napa Cab. Ripe, round, and silky. Powerful and extracted, but not totally blown out. The fruit leans to the black spectrum and comes loaded with blueberry pie, plum, and blackberry jam, but a little dabble of strawberry here and a touch of cassis there share the stage too. Then thereâs graphite minerality, the exotic toasty woods, candied violets, and fantastic savory elements like cardamom, leather, and mushrooms. Incredibly polished for a â21, and the crowd-pleasing potential is off the meter here! Did we mention DOUBLE 97 POINTS?!
Speaking of snacks - hit Trader Joeâs and get those little Panzerotti pizza bites, some âunexpectedâ cheddar spread, a few slabs of prosciutto, and a baguette, boom, youâre in heavenâŚ
And hey, they call it that for good reason, donât get left behind.
97 Points â Wine Enthusiast
âPowerful yet superbly balanced, this wine achieves the iron fist in a velvet glove expression that makes it appealing in its youth yet bolsters it for more complexity and depth with time. While firmly tannic, the texture still feels elegant. Although deep in black currants, cloves and cedar, the flavors are fresh and appealing. Best from 2028â2040.â
97 Points â The Tasting Panel
âTightly wound tannins create a motif of powerhouse intensity. Dried herbs, soy sauce, and slate add courage and conviction to the Cult. Black plum increases its complexity, enveloping spiced sandalwood on the finish.â
