Mission Codename Where's the Don?
“The wines are fabulous.” – Vinous
Yeah, they are Antonio, it’s KEE OHHHH TAYYY!
We rarely get a second chance at a wine of this caliber - but getting a second chance PLUS lopping off an additional 20% from the previously low price?! That’s rare as hens’ teeth.
It’s true, a visit to this famed winery might trigger flashbacks of that one mega-dose of shrooms you took in college (or last week). It might feel like time is warping, and your eyes seeing things at the winery, but today’s offer is certified, 100% NOT your mind playing tricks on you. Much like the whimsical winery, your eyes may find it hard to believe but this $56 price on a top shelf Stag’s Leap Cabernet from the EPIC 2018 vintage is very real.
A full 60% OFF drops this $140 Cab to $56.
If you had the 2017 that we offered or were among the lucky ones to get this 2018 when we rolled it out months ago, you already know what to expect. With 95 points from Wine Independent and a 94 from James Suckling, it’s a certified winner.
Carl Doumani is the legend behind Quixote, and if you’ve been to the winery in Stags Leap District, you’ll feel like you fell straight down the rabbit hole. He commissioned famed Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser there to make this vision a reality.
Quixote’s wines have always been killer, and this is no exception. They’ve had a rotating cast of brilliant winemakers over the years, including Aaron Pott who helped put them on the map, and today they have one of the best, Phillipe Melka, who serves as their consulting winemaker alongside Robert Smith.
Fleshy and round, it serves up stacks of steeped cherries, roasted plum, fresh tobacco, sugared pie crust and toasty oak, with vanilla and cocoa-laced accents. It leans into the inky, intense side of the spectrum without going full Kool-Aid man smashing into your face with a candied sweet confection style. Just Stags Leap Cab at its best.
We’ll leave you with a small sampling of the praise from others: “The best vintage of this vertical tasting” “Wow! It’s like the flip side of the coin to Caymus” “What an amazing wine” “Absolutely gorgeous”
And keep in mind, many of those paid WAY more than the $56 you see here. Landing a Stags Leap Cab from one of Napa Valley’s most renowned winemakers? From the epic 2018 vintage? At over $80 OFF… inventory is already withering like a pile of spinach in a skillet!
95 Points – Wine Independent
“The 2018 Quixote Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color. It leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of crushed blueberries, fresh blackcurrants, and black raspberries, with touches of lavender, wild sage, and cast-iron pan. The medium to full-bodied palate shimmers with energy, delivering loads of mineral-accented black and blue fruit layers, with a fine-grained texture and lovely tension, finishing long and vivacious. Drink 2024-2040.”
94 Points – James Suckling
“Beautiful aromas of dark fruit, orange peel and flowers follow through to a full body with round, juicy tannins that are polished and delicious. Luscious fruit on the finish. Drink in 2023, but already beautiful.”
