Mission Codename Correlation AND Causation
Your fantasy team might be in the toilet already. Your home team down bad. But if you’re reading this, you’re already winning.
Count on us to pull through with yet another incredible Napa Cabernet at over 50% OFF. Not just any Cab, either. This hails from an exciting new project, and frankly we’re shocked to have ANY to spare. So, on this quiet Sunday, we’re turning loose what little we have, and praying it lasts more than a few hours.
Cause per a Robb Report piece on them “Napa’s next big wine brand is a celebration of what Napa is all about.”
Many of the greatest wines coming out of Napa are built on relationships, and this is no exception. An incredibly small production Cab released at $99. One of those wines you “acquire” rather than buy. And if you do stumble upon it, expect to pay at least $80 or more.
And yet, for a brief moment in time, it’s here in front of you for $47…
Die-hard Napa Cab hunters surely know Vineyard 7&8. Perched up on Spring Mountain, where they turn out high-scoring, powerful mountain Cabernet from their prime 16-acre hillside vineyard. When owner Wesley Steffens wanted to branch out and start a new project to expand beyond his family’s vineyard, he knew it would start with the right team.
Which is why he brought Martha McClellan on as winemaker. Her resume includes heavy hitters like Checkerboard, Sloan, Hamel and her personal project Levy & McClellan, which she shares with her husband Bob Levy of Harlan and BOND. You won’t find a much more connected, influential, and skilled winemaker in the world.
And while much of the fruit comes from his family vineyard, he turned to a Beckstoffer property to bring in the balance. It’s beautifully polished, with a balanced mix of red and black fruit. Red cherry, cassis, and plum intertwined with scorched earth and sassafras (yes, sassafras!) Powered by the near-perfect 2019 vintage, it’s drinking beautifully now and will remain in a steady state of enjoyment for decades.
Back to Robb Report: “A winemaker alongside Martha McClellan at the family’s Vineyard 7&8 estate (founded by his parents in 1999 high atop Spring Mountain) who received high praise from the critics and loyalty from mailing list members, Steffens was ready to work with vineyards and growers throughout the Valley and to play with other varieties and other appellations… relationships Steffens brings to the table were forged along a unique journey of working in both food and wine in the valley at the likes of The French Laundry and Harlan and BOND estates… They are the starting point for the very definition of the name he gave his new brand… With that thought, Correlation Wine Co. is Steffens’s celebration of what Napa Valley and wine are all about.”
So it goes without saying that this is a touchdown of an offer.
