Mission Codename When they say it they mean it
Bringing in a Prestige Champagne fit for Kings & Queens!
Now THAT’s rare, says so on the label!
You know what else is rare? Our price! Easily $20 lower than the lowest you’ll find this anywhere; some national chains charge MORE THAN TWICE what we got this down to. Unbelievable!
Only a few prestige ‘Tête de Cuvée’ emanate more scarcity and appeal. This bubbly is so famous that when Piper became the Official Champagne of the 88th-annual Academy Awards, the winners received their Oscars and disappeared behind the curtain, where they received a glass of, you guessed it, THIS to sip, while their names were being etched into their statuette.
Their aging recommendation tagline says it all: “dazzling until 2040, resplendent thereafter…”
Per Master of Wine Anne Krebiehl of Decanter “As with every vintage of Rare, the 2013 was given a particular attribute expressing the character of the wine. The term chosen for 2013 is ‘dazzling’. Boutillat said that the idea was drawn from the late harvest of that cool but long growing season which afforded the grapes full ripeness… The wine has both the freshness and the verticality of the cool 2013 vintage. It went through full malolactic and then spent 8 years on lees before being disgorged with a dosage of 9g/L. Despite this generous dosage, the wine comes across as Extra Brut, such is the vividness, freshness and drive.”
The inaugural release of Rare was with the mythical 1976 vintage and since there have only been 13 harvests that were expressive enough to be praiseworthy of this. From high atop the upper echelons of quality, is fit for Kings and Queens. Treat yourself to this ‘Rare’ indulgence, you deserve it.
So, who’s gonna be around to drink this, per Jeb, “2024-2044 and beyond” with us?
98 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“Originally a part of the legendary Piper-Heidsieck Champagne house, Rare is moving their Champagne Millésime to a new brand and want it to stand alone. (Think Delamotte and Salon.) The 13th vintage for this cuvée, the 2013 Millésime is a blend is 70% Chardonnay with the rest Pinot Noir, with the majority of the blend coming from the Montagne de Reims Grand Cru and Premier Cru. A bright yellow hue, its aromatics are exquisite and well-balanced, with fresh notes of key lime, candied apple, fresh croissant dough, fresh pineapple, and honeysuckle. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with a rounded and supple texture and a pillowy mousse. It’s long on the palate and has a silky personality as well as a long, pristine finish. It has fantastic balance of decadence and freshness, and I could drink this all day. It’s going to have a long drinking window. Disgorged December 2022. Drink 2024-2044 and beyond.”
