Mission Codename Meteoric Rise
Antonio Galloni “It is one of the most moving and complete Coombsville Cabernet I have ever tasted. In a word, ‘superb’”
The above Galloni quote is just one from a deep well of praise for this special site.
And while this once-Classified offer may have been hidden behind a cloak of secrecy in the past, today we’re opening the kimono and putting it out there for everyone to experience.
With 95 points and fist-pumping 56% OFF, too?! Like the flocks of drones soaring above New Jersey, we have no verifiable explanation, but we can say this is 100% real.
“This vineyard is as jaw-dropping as its Cabernets.” claims Wine Spectator, and who are we to disagree?
Some claims may be subjective, but it’s pretty much a fact. As sure as 2+2=4, we can firmly state Meteor Vineyard is one of the PREMIRE Napa properties. There’s good reason superstar winemakers like Andy Erikson Tony Soter, and Philippe Melka hold tight to their contracts to get fruit from this hallowed ground.
But the vineyard is just the start.
Yes, Ops, we are in the depths of Napa cult territory. A wine made by a sort of Napa Illuminati. Internet pioneers Barry and Tracy Schuler had one goal in mind - shoot for the stars. They recruited Mike Wolf to manage the vineyard and brought the winemaking dream team of Bill and Dawnine Dyer on board.
Their singular aim? Produce just two epic wines. Both 100% estate, and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A whopping 95 points from Vinous is just one more feather in the cap of these legends. “This is one of the better vintages of the Perseid I can remember tasting,” says Mr. Galloni. In the almost 20 years of this wine’s history, words like “scrumptious,” “expansive,”, and “vibrant” have been thrown around by critics to accompany great score after great score.
There is no way you will find this wine ANYWHERE close to this price online. Seriously, if you can even find it at all! This wine over-delivers at the original sale price of $175 and, our price, 56% off is an UNHEARD OF, staggering deal. We’re doing our best not to shout it from the rooftops!
Wines of this caliber demand prices well above $150 and typically closer to $300. This is unparalleled pedigree backed by a dream team of industry all-stars. Scarecrow, Harlan Estate, Lail, Beckstoffer, and Duckhorn all have team members in common with Meteor.
Now to what is in the glass. Man, at 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is rich and dense! Think black plum, leather, deep dark cherry, and subtle aromas of herbs de Provence. Layered complexity on the palette will leave your curiosities peaked and have you coming back to the bottle for more as it changes by the minute with some air. On the tongue, those lush tannins are accompanied by notes of cedar, dried sage, mocha, raspberry jam, and a little Chinese five-spice thang. Absolutely gorgeous!
This truly has it all - from the vintage to the winemakers and everything else.
BUT.
We only had so much to begin with and with nearly $100 OFF, what little we have will not llast. Do not delay!
95 Points— Vinous
Antonio Galloni’s Vinous - “Dawnine Dyer crafted two memorable Cabernets for Meteor in 2016. The wines are rich and dramatic, yet also offer tons of finesse for such big wines, along with the minerality and savoriness that are such signatures of Coombsville. Meteor’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid is very pretty, and, dare I say it, understated for a wine that in the past has been much more about impact than finesse. Inky, powerful, and voluptuous in the glass, the Perseid is simply gorgeous today. Dark red cherry, plum, cedar, smoke, and tobacco all build in the glass. The 2016 is a sensual, mysterious Cabernet, and yet my impression is that it will be even better in another few years’ time. This is one of the better vintages of the Perseid I can remember tasting, and certainly the most elegant. Drink 2021-2031”
