Mission Codename Crisscross 2

Here’s an unconventional WIA, a first of its kind…

MISTAKE(S) of the Year!

As in this.

Reminds me of a popular ice cream flavor in wine country, Mimi’s Mistake by Screamin’ Mimi’s. All was well there when on a fateful day some peanuts found their way into Mimi’s Mud, resulting in one happy mistake that was not on the original recipe. The result was delicious and stayed with a cult following.

Similarly, for WIA, we went back to our source in Bordeaux for a second round of the immensely popular experimental duo library vintages by Maltus; Les Astéries and Le Carré. Somewhere along the way these vintages we already brought you got crisscrossed with ones that we’ve never featured before. Realizing the mistake, we’re today delighted to offer you, and those of you especially who have some of the 2016 Les Astéries and the 2015 Le Carré in your stashes, another limited batch, of 2016 Le Carré and 2015 Les Astéries to complement them!

Top-shelf Saint-Émilion Grand Crus with big points come with equally big price tags such as:

  • Le Dôme - $299
  • Figeac - $315
  • Angelus - $425
  • Pavie - $449
  • Cheval Blanc - $999

This little-known contender brings similar power and purity to the table for… can this be?!

Under $80.

We shouldn’t be surprised.

With 96 Points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, at a full HALF OFF. You can spend MUCH more on similarly scored Right Bank cult reds. Or not. JCP is known for a certain style. Some call it bombastic. We call it fantastic. Or hedonistic…

While these last with HALF OFF!

96 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “The 2016 Le Carre is blended of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc and aged in 80% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple, it bursts from the glass with gregarious scents of dark chocolate-covered cherries, warm plums and blueberry compote with hints of coffee beans, menthol, yeast extract and beef drippings. Full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, the palate features a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing very long and mineral laced. Drink 2020-2050.”
