Mission Codename Thunderbolt and lightning
Another first today… a CLASSIFIED WIA?!
Our popular program returns for a WIA. And while this cult producer has been a staple on Wine Spies for half a decade, with a few appearances this year, this is the FIRST time we’ve landed their flagship bottling.
96 points from Jeb Dunnuck! A flat out, pedal to the medal, hedonistic thriller of a Cabernet that’s sure to please the most discerning of cult collectors.
And with each bottle leaving $100+ on the table, you’re claiming the ultimate hookup today.
For reasons that will soon become clear, CLASSIFIED offer wines are so good, so scarce, and so exclusive, that they must hide behind a closely guarded veil of secrecy.
You rarely, if ever, see these bottles at a discount. And because some wineries are very price-sensitive, their mailing list members would go ballistic seeing a deep deal on it.
Unless…
We go full redaction – CLASSIFIED – über-top-secret black ops mission style.
Revealing the name would put our livelihood at stake. Our industry is built on relationships and not wanting to ruffle feathers, sometimes it’s a necessary precaution to redact some of the information.
HOWEVER… we can drop a little trail of breadcrumbs, and the savviest of you may figure it out. With that preamble over, let’s dive in…
Got your detective cap on? Good, let’s keep moving closer to the target.
Big clue again, wines by this cult Napa producer have been offered here for years now. But always their second or “sister” label, and NEVER this big bad boy that normally is sold out first via their mailing list. This year we begged for a small allocation, with the compromise to go CLASSIFIED. You reap the benefits; we can see the smiles when unboxing.
Next clue, winemaking talent runs in this family. The project is related in blood and style to another that sits up there amongst the best of the best. It shows the same oomph, same pizzazz, same deliciousness.
Last but not least, this always gets the highest scores, as in 96 by Jeb Dunnuck who “loved” this “fresh, pure, focused 2018 that has a sweet core… silky tannins… a gorgeous wine… he thought, well worth seeking out” cause with the tiny production, normally FINDING any is a challenge!
The choice is yours: pay $105-170 elsewhere for it, or with a 65% break rarely seen on a highly rated cut Cab, you can steal it by the case at $60 a pop here, today, while it lasts.
