Mission Codename Ring Ring!
Hello?! Opportunity calling! You better answer!
94 (plus 93) points and made from a master in the Pinot game! A name any Pinot Noir enthusiast should know…
Adam Lee is the mastermind behind Siduri. he and Diana Lee started in 1994, and as fortune (or mad winemaking skills) would have it, right off the bat, Robert Parker rated the first vintage as one of the Top 10 California Pinots.
For under $30!? This easily drinks at its release price. And puts a huge smile on your face.
Siduri Wines grew into a Pinot powerhouse and gained heaps of critical acclaim over the years. Loved for their style, which merged powerful, deep fruit with elegance and balance.
The couple sold the brand to Jackson Family Wines in 2015 and stayed on as consulting winemakers. The journey after that has included epic Pinot Noir project after epic Pinot Noir project.
Known for his bold and elegant style with the varietal, the expression of Santa Lucia Highlands here is masterful. Per Wine Spectator “Lee helped popularize Gary’s and Rosella’s in the early days of Siduri and relied on his relationship with growers Gary Pisoni and Gary Franscioni and his experience with specific blocks in those vineyards. Stylistically, his new wines are less ripe, with more elegance and savory notes, than his old Siduri Pinots.” The east-facing terraces of this region allow for a long ripening season. It’s a dream terroir for Pinot as the cool breezes and foggy mornings mean ripening is extending while still maintaining brilliant acid and structure.
Rich and simply gorgeous. Elegant dark fruit with cherry, blueberries, and intoxicating spice. Round and mouth-filling, with a terrific mid-palate feel that carries into a long finish. Velvety, smooth, and happy-making stuff that will make any Pinot fan swoon. This is a perfect example of the region and a great take from Adam Lee.
And for a steal, honestly. Under $30 makes this a great deal you cannot pass up. Be quick!
94 Points – James Suckling “A gorgeous, generous wine that’s packed with ripe red and black fruit and aromatic floral notes wrapped in moderate tannins. While nicely dry, it’s also quite concentrated, deep and long in the finish. Full-bodied, well balanced and age-worthy. Drink now or hold.”
93 Points – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous “The 2023 Phone Booth Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is a rich, expressive wine that shows all the hallmarks of a long growing season in its concentration and complexity. Dark, slightly salty fruit meets heightening tones of chapparal herbs and stony minerals. This is impeccably balanced and totally approachable. Drink 2025-2035.”
