Mission Codename Tré Cool
Well Operatives, we have a real winner winner chicken dinner offer for you today! The Agents have been raiding this one with abandon since we checked it in. Do what you can to get your share of this one before we drink it all!
You know the Bundschu family from their historic stewardship of the Gundlach Bundschu Winery property for 6 generations. Yes, we know, hard to say- think “gun” “lock” “bun” “shoe.”
Katie Bundschu created Abbot’s Passage to continue the family legacy and do her own thing with Rhone- inspired wines and a focus on field blends. The first women winemaker in 6 generations, she is hands on through and through. In 2020, she took over the historic Valley of the Moon property and created the permanent home for Abbot’s Passage Winery and Mercantile. The property itself has been under vines since the mid 1800s. And, honestly, it has the best bocce court in the Valley, FYI.
This “Tripoint” Rhone style blend takes the intensity and structure of Syrah and adds in the floral elegance of Viognier. This blend happens in the vineyard as most magical things do. Deep and intense in flavor, the wine is medium to full bodied with a mélange of aromas that all lead into a complex and pleasing palette. Think rose, cherry preserves, lilac, hibiscus and fresh cut cedar. And a finish that draws you back time after time.
Truly a quaffable wine with a price point that could mean you have a new house wine in the making!
Gun Bun might make some bigger lots, but Katie is only making Abbot’s Passage small and quality focused. Which means not enough to go around. DO NOT DELAY!
