If you checked out today’s Featured Pinot, you’ll have read that Robert Rex has been making wine with Cecilia Valdicia for nearly 20+ years. She got her start the hard way, by earning a Master’s degree in winemaking from the University of Mendoza in Argentina, her home country. Standing at 5’ 4” tall (our best guess - sorry if we shaved an inch off Cecilia!) she punches well above her weight, with the nose of a bloodhound a fiery tongue. Our very own Agent Cru knows just how high her standards are, having worked under her supervision in his humble origin days as a cellar rat in Deerfield’s cave.

We’re not sure if it’s just in her blood, but unsurprisingly, Cecilia knows how to make a damn good Malbec. This single-vineyard Malbec comes from Valley Oak Vineyard - a tiny spot in Bennett Valley, in the shadow of Sonoma Mountain. Delicious bright red fruit is the order of the day, and it’s absolutely bursting with palate popping notes of strawberry and plum - catching the eye with that signature violet hue that the grape is famous for.

So go on - grab a few bottles to round out your Deerfield day and top off your case. You will not be disappointed… unless it’s because you didn’t get any more of it. After today, you won’t find them again in the Store!
