Mission Codename Woolly
“Andiamo!!”
We say, let’s go! These kinds of finds just make us wild! Epic juice, industry leading winery and great critic scores!
This 100% Montepulciano is from Cascina del Colle. They are truly family run and have grown their production over the last 25 years in business. The D’Onofrio family focuses on organic practices and true expression of the land. The property lies southwest of the coastal town of Pescara in Abruzzo and has olive tress integrated into the plantings.
The Mammut bottling here is indeed a special lot. This is a tiny production wine created to celebrate the discovery of a Mammoth tusk in the late 1960s on the site of the vineyard. We’ve got to agree with James Suckling on this one. He gave it 95 points and said, “Fantastic.”
Just like its prehistoric namesake, this wine is powerful and majestic. Think big, bold and beautiful. Dark fruit preserves, savory herb and fresh cedar are integrated perfectly into the rich tannins and bright acid. This is full bodied and unapologetic. It drinks beautifully now and will age with the best of them.
Like we said, tiny production. Which means you need to claim your stake here before these bottles are gone.
Be quick!
95 Points— James Suckling “Lots of asphalt and tar to the black fruit. Extremely aromatic. Full-bodied and tannic, yet polished and so round. Contemporary and focused. Fantastic.”
